If I Could Fly Like Superman…

Escaping isn't weakness — sometimes, it's just the first step toward healing.

If I could fly like Superman,
I wouldn't be flying to save the world.
I’d be flying to save myself — from everything, and maybe even… from everyone.

Not out of anger.
Not out of bitterness.
But out of weariness.

We often talk about escape like it's a flaw — like it’s something only the weak do. But what if escape is just a natural human response to overwhelm? What if it’s not cowardice, but an instinct to find peace?

If I had the ability to soar above the world, I think I would.
I’d rise above the noise, the deadlines, the conversations that drain me, the expectations I can no longer meet, and the faces that ask too many questions.

I’d float where no one can reach me — not because I hate them… but because I can’t carry it all anymore.

The Silent Weight We Carry

We all reach a point where it feels like everything around us demands too much.

Too much strength.
Too much response.
Too much pretending.

We nod politely, smile automatically, and show up physically — but mentally, we’re floating elsewhere. Our hearts long for stillness, for solitude, for the kind of silence that isn’t awkward, but healing.

And so the thought comes —
"If I could fly like Superman, I’d stay in the sky…"
Not to run forever.
But to breathe.
To feel safe enough to fall apart, without having to explain why.

Even Superman Came Back Down

But here’s the thing. Even Superman didn’t stay in the sky.

He came back.
He walked among people.
He faced things. He showed up.

And maybe that’s the real courage.

Not the ability to escape, but the willingness to return.
To re-enter the spaces that once hurt us, and this time… carry peace within.
To sit in the crowd, but not lose ourselves in the noise.

Choosing Rest, Not Disappearance

There’s nothing wrong with needing space. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to unplug, disconnect, and fly — even if just in your mind.

But don’t stay away forever.
Let the flight be rest, not disappearance.
Let it be recovery, not running.

Because someone, somewhere, still needs you.
Not the perfect version of you — just the real one. The honest one. The one who once flew away to find strength again.

“Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28

So if you're feeling heavy today, and all you want is to fly away — I see you.
Take your flight.
Find your rest.
But when you're ready, come back down.

The world may not change,
But you will.
